🏆 Copa América 2028
South America's championship returns in mid-2028 — host still to be confirmed by CONMEBOL.
Overview
The 49th Copa América is scheduled for mid-2028, four years after Argentina's win in the United States. CONMEBOL has not yet confirmed the host: the United States (a repeat of 2024), Argentina, Ecuador and Paraguay have all been linked with the tournament.
The 2024 edition used 16 teams — CONMEBOL's ten members plus six CONCACAF guests. Whether that arrangement continues in 2028 depends on the host agreement.
Hosts and venues
- To be announced once the host is confirmed
Format
- If the 2024 format is repeated: 16 teams in four groups of four, top two into the quarter-finals, then semi-finals, third-place play-off and final.
- Format and participant list to be confirmed by CONMEBOL.
